I just spent the past 3 weeks writing a paper on IF for one of my classes. I'm more confident in talkin about it with people, but i'm WORN out reading the stuff.
anyways one of the most interesting things i found was this:
basically males and females respond different to fasting and CR. men have a pretty straight forward genetic response to excess food or a lack thereof, but women have varying degrees of response. cognitive ability and testosterone levels rise in females when restricted. this could suggest why anorexic patients do well on cognitive tests.
Very interesting. Thanks! It's an angle people tend to forget - the difference between the male and female response to diet/exercise. Lots of women just try to do what the guys do and don't understand what is wrong when it doesn't work as well for them.
Evolutionary it is more important for the female to survive. Men are just expendable toys. Yes there are differences between sexes but also individual...hence why anything like IF needs to be fine tuned individually, there is no one size fits all approach....there never is.
i'll see what my teacher says when she gives it back. i'd hate to post something online and then find out it had some kinda egregious error. to be honest there were like 6 more articles that i wanted to read for the paper, but because of time and space constraints i didn't get to them. so basically i'm calling myself out. i could have missed some vital info, but this paper is just for school. thus i like that fact that i don't have to worry about the community at large calling me out
