MIke;
Solid article. I think I'm going to cancel a pair of trail shoes that I have on order and instead, order the trail VFF's.
Based on the article, I guess at some point, you can just run the trails, or any terrain in bare feet, but man, having a hard time get my brain around that concept.

Rather than bare feet I would look into something like the Vibram Five Fingers shoes. It is the next best thing and protects your feet.

My tender feet still feel a lot through the Vibrams, enough to have to unweight quickly...I don't know if I'll ever have the time (away from work) to do enough barefoot to make it worthwhile.
In the meantime, I sure love my VFFs.

Mike;
Agree, plan to order the KSO's once I confirm size with company.
Garrett, ya, I know where you're coming from. I've got a local golf course which should be a good starting place, then we have this great 9 mile trail in the woods that runs along a river. While there are some rocks, roots, it will make for great running.
Have a good evening, super weekend.

That was a good read. I don't know that my brain (or my wife) could wrap itself around the VFF's but...I'm thinking about it!

Allen,
I've found that most people get over the VFFs pretty quick...at work, I jokingly refer to my all-black ones (with black socks, of course!) as my "gorilla feet". The response has been very positive.

I know I'm an electrical engineer and all most of my coworkers wear all kinds of mismatched clothes. While at work I'd most definitely have to go with something low key like the Vivo Barefoot shoes which have a somewhat more of a dress shoe look.
It's just another one of those items I've had on my "want" list for a while, a bit lower priority than other things though. Maybe once I get back from school (Army stuff) in July.

Hey hey I know what you mean. I asked my wife for VFFs for Christmas and I know she felt plenty awkward going in and buying them.
