Default Jr's best meet ever!

The title sums it up. Jr went into this meet today with a little different focus and had his best meet ever. He has been really worried every meet about the mushroom. At today's meet he hit 4 circles in practice and never looked back.

This was an AAU state qualifier. There were 6 kids in his group 2 of which came from his gym. His biggest area for improvement right now is in his High Bar routine. He is still not getting hollow on his back swing.

It was great to see so much improvement and he certainly enjoyed it.

Here are his scores and places. Men's gymnastics has adopted the 16 point scoring all the way down to level 3 so the scores you see are different then a 10 point scale.

Pommel 13.6 1st place
Rings 14.1 1st place
Floor 13.6 3rd place
P Bars 13.7 3rd place
High Bar 11.5 3rd place
Vault 14.9 1st place

2 more weeks until state and Jr and I talked about the things he is going to focus on. He is pretty excited and looking forward to state.

Well at least I know now. I really need to read the routines as the names are starting to get ridiculous. The hip circle thingy on the high bar has some name I can't remember but is also called a baby giant, that I can remember.

Um, there's a clear hip + under shoot.... baby giant = long hang underswing or whatever.

Just ignore those names.
