IF and TKD for fat loss
Hi,
I have been experimenting with IF for over a year now with very pleasing results. I feel that as opposed to just a diet when I first jumped on board, IF is now definitely a lifestyle for me. As my body fat has come down, I seem to have hit a plateau and am now looking at incorporating a TKD to remove a small amount of fat from my lower abs.
My IF has been following Martin Berkhan's Leangains approach, usually a 4-8hr daily feed with approx. 80% of daily calories consumed post-WO spread over 1 or 2 meals. WIth a TKD, this would mean a huge intake of fat post-WO, something that is advised against from numerous sources.
So, my questions are, is my approach to IF and a TKD compatible, is it a definite no-no to consume high amounts of fat post-WO, even in a state of ketosis and if so, could a possible workaround be to consume a protein only meal post-WO and then a protein, high fat meal a couple of hours later?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Ben

What is "TKD".....not striking a bell with me right now (something Keto Diet?)....and I don't think it means Tae Kwon Do.

Sorry Mike, should have mentioned TKD is a targeted ketogenic diet. My interpretation involves consuming a small amount of carbs pre-WO, 30g of oats is my current choice and then no other carbs bar fibrous veggies for the rest of the day.
I have just been reading this e-book http://www.hormonalfitness.com/pdfs/NHE-Chapter-21.pdf, which appears to be saying that consuming carbs pre and post-WO is detrimental to burning fat and that consuming fat post is ok.
There's so much contradictory info. out there, I'm finding it hard to know what would be the best way forward..

Ask Martin. If you can handle the shitblizzard that follows, you could ping Lyle McDonald at his forum or Power adn Bulk. He's accessible.

Martin knows his sh*t, I would definitely go with his approach....as you can burn fat all other times of the days and off days...but you want muscle glycogen replenishment and protein sythesis maximized after a workout. You can mess with the workout schedule like 1 on/2 off (recover-low carb days). Lots of info out there....find what works and keep it simple...pwo feeding is pretty simple, then just fine tune how often you do it and keep other days low carb for more "fat burning" purposes.

My Pwo meal usually consists of scrambled eggs with cheese and ham plus a protien shake, and sometimes some veggies. So is it bad to consume a large amount of fat after your workout?
