When should I get shoes?
Hey guys,
I just started Olympic training last week, and it's really fun. I can't believe I haven't started earlier. I was at the CF Football cert and watched all those guys train at lunch, and got the itch to try it. CrossFit will be used much less in my training, just 2x or 3x per week. Anyways, I 've been going for 2 weeks now, I don't see myself going back to other kinds of training any time soon. I was wondering, though, at what point should I just bite and buy Oly shoes? I can get a pair of Dynamos for 50 dollars. I would by chucks, but I have size 15 feet, and they cost just as much as lifting shoes. Should I wait, or just go ahead and get them? Thoughts?

Whatever it costs lifting shoes are the best investment you can make. Like Gant said do it now.

Sounds good. I now have an excuse for my wife. (I'll just order now and tell her later.) Can I sleep on someones couch when my crap is all out on the front lawn?
Oh, I already ordered Greg's book too. I'm very excited. While I was lifting yesterday, one of our clients (a lady) looked at her friend (another lady) and asked her if she could do those lifts. (Olympic style lifts) Her friend looked at her and said, "I'm going to soon." It's very cool to see the fever spreading among clients at my gym. They are depressed when there is just metcon and no heavy lifting to be done. I love that they are mostly all ladies, and they all show up asking if we are squatting.

They have their head in the right place.
Once you get folks at the gym lifting, you can do a group order for shoes and get a good price. VS Athletics is good about offering discounts (I have their shoes).
Oly shoes are the right tool for the job. You wouldn't wear Chucks to play football, and you shouldn't wear them on the platform. At some point, a crossfitter will tell you that you aren't functional and that you should do Oly barefoot or some stupid crap. At that point, try to wrap an Eleiko around his neck. It's good work for you, it helps him in the long run, and you'll get to see if those bars really snap back into a straight position.

Thanks for the help guys, I ordered them this morning. I got the VS Dynamos, because I got a deal on them. I'll keep in touch with how things are going. Quick question, though. I started my snatch workouts at a super light max, because I wanted to get the form down. I am now at the point that the work sets feel incredibly light. Should I wait for a max day, or just up the weight now? I feel like I can move up pretty quickly at this point because I've never trained Snatch before, and gains can be made quickly. I just don't want to rush and then have to back off. I don't know. I'm way more comfortable staying with my clean where it is, as I've trained that before.
