Default Rezazadeh's High Jump

I was watching Youtubes of the Sydney 105+ Clean & Jerk, and the announcers said that Hossein Rezazadeh had an 190 centimeter high jump - could this possibly be true? That's taller than he is at a bodyweight of 149 kilos. I suspect that this could be the kind of thing a coach fibs about to the announcer before the meet to get their guy good coverage. I have some trouble imagining what such a jump would be like to see.

I would guess that was a PR he set in his younger, lighter days.

If I remember correctly I heard that vertical leap is one of the ways the Iranian coaches search out potential in their youth.

Yeah, I think it was from that telecast. They were talking about how popular weightlifting is in Iran etc.

Default Vertical Jump

A vertical jump for your average basketball player, volleyball player etc is considered above average at 30 inches, excellent at 40 inches, and the best at 50 inches and higher.

The height of the athlete isn't the most important indicator of how high he or she can jump.
