I move my hands out for comfort reasons as I'm still learning how to jerk properly. At this stage of my lifting career, I'm still pressing the bar up; instead of pressing myself under the bar. Don't bet on it Arden. I started moving my grip out after the clean more for comfort, but I am still pressing myself under the bar. The problem with going back to the narrower jerk is then that will become very uncomfortable. I think popping the bar up (even if you don't move your hands out) is a good thing to re-adjust your hands, you just have to practice it.
