I actually lost 18lbs over those two cycles. I finally cleaned up my diet and the lbs melted off. I know what people are thinking...duh, no wonder why you didn't progress as well. but i don't feel good with the extra weight on and the weight isn't muscle, its fat. my snatch did go up 5kg after losing the weight, so I don't think weight had everything to do with me not gaining much strength in the clean. But i'm no expert, that's why I am on the board.

Losing weight can help you move better, which is why it goes up. That and you put on muscle. Try to hit the squats heavy and often, get your strength up your lifts will definitely follow.

I would suggest waiting until youre at a weight where you wont mind putting on 5-10lbs of lean muscle over a heavy eating/heavy squatting cycle, i think you will see great gains.
...im not an 'expert' either, but this is my experience and ive done half a dozen or so strength cycles including smolov, 3x5, 5x5, etc.
