Default knees go out during the jerk

When you do the dip portion of the dip, why do you push your knees out instead of knees going forward?

thanks

It's not that you intentionally push your knees out. It is more about following the right groove of your knees.

And it so happens that on a vast majority of people, it is outwards instead of inwards.

Plus, letting your knees "cave in" when doing any form of squatting puts undue pressure on your knee-joints.

As Bee said, you're keeping your knee in line with your feet. But also letting the knees move straight forward or inward will tend to shift your weight forward and also reduces your ability to engage the hip musculature.

This is a new approach I have been taught. When I first started my then coach taught me to have my feet hip width facing forward, move into the ducking position then driving.

Now...I have my feet still hip width but only feet facing outwards...as if going into a squat...then doing it.

I feel more powerful with this method...in regards to able to develop greater explosive power.
