Default Seeking snatch critique

Hi all,

I last asked for feedback on here almost 4 months ago, and my current technique has seemed to stabilize. Here's a video of a typical snatch, at 40 kg:



Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

This is definitely a big improvement over what I remember you posting before. My main suggestion would be to try to open up a bit more at the top of your pull - you look very tight, probably trying to make sure you change directions and get under the bar quickly, but it's preventing you from finishing your extension and making your arms a bit tense. Use the lats to push the bar back into the hips with relaxed arms and use the glutes to help finish the hip extension while you push w the legs. If you do it right, you'll really feel the bar pop up for you with that last little bit of extension and you'll still be able to change directions very quickly. Nice work.

Thanks Greg!

My natural style lends me to get underneath the bar ASAP, and I often get comments that I don't finish on the extension. Do you have any tips or cues for me to help make sure I finish my extension for the second pull (i.e. that I've extended long enough)?

Also, Greg:

In your experience with long-legged lifters (such as myself), do you find them having more success with the "modern" pulling technique of "torso upright as possible", or with a deep bow over the bar (like Jon North or Yurik Vardanian)? I've seen both sides of the debate, and I'd like your quick take on it.

Try doing a snatch deadlift before you snatch, focusing on extending completely, shoulders behind the hips and hips slightly hyperextended w the glutes.

I don't like a pronounced lean over the bar regardless of a lifter's build.
