Default Youngster C&J

We appreciated the snatch advice and looking for C&J as well. Bar too far out in front of the body and I am having a tough time coming up with descriptive cues. We warmed up with clean segment pulls, tall cleans, and press from split jerk position. The weight is light enough for him to pull with arms but I do not want to go higher until form is better and he and I comfortable. Trying to explain the hip opening is the power that should drive the bar up. Looking for cues a 13 year old can understand (not to mention his old man) and best drilling exercises.

I would try to find a way physically to get him to do it rather than trying to get him to conceptualize it. For example, you might try having him hold the bar in the crease of his hips, arms long and relaxed, and tell him to push it back into his hips - if he doesn't get that, pull on the bar and tell him not to let you move it.

While pushing it in like that, have him bend at the knees only slowly, then jump through the heels and move his shoulders backward behind his hips to snatch it. This is about as simple as you can make it, and usually you get a breakthrough with something similar to that.

Any tips greatly appreciated. Still not bringing bar into body i thought he did better with this aspect during snatch. I think elbows on clean look better than last post. Also he does a thing wrist hitch move move in middle of 2nd pull, he says he feels like he losing his grip, and this is a JR. 10kg bar. Suggestions on practice lifts would be great. We have been doing segment pulls with light weight, tall cleans, and jerk balance as a warm-up of sorts. Any thoughts on what we should add or subtract from that routine.
