Default How can I avoid rice?

I have a Japanese mom and I was raised in Japan. I moved in west side when I was in college. I am a very active person, I go to gym 3x a week, play tennis, and sometimes, join my brother with his swimming lesson. I want to have a lean body but the problem is I cannot cut my carb. I love rice, white rice. what's the effective way to cut it?

The traditional rice based Japanese diet ranks alongside the Mediterranean diet in terms of health benefits. The only area where it can be faulted is the high sodium content which is a major cause of stomach cancer and stroke amongst elderly Japanese. So if you were looking to cut down on anything to improve your diet you should start with soy sauce, miso and pickled vegetables, not rice.

If you are engaging in aerobic activities like tennis and swimming and doing more than lifting in the gym, you're going to want some carbs, and paleorthodoxy notwithstanding, you could do a lot worse than white rice. It doesn't have the nutrient density of most tubers, but it's a pretty inoccuous grain. Eat plenty of protein and a decent amount of fat, and it will be easier to not overeat with the rice.

Well man, my mom being Peruvian loves her white rice and seeing as I how she married a Japanese guy when I was 5, we ate a lot of rice.

They still keep eat a lot and it cracks me up that my mom will make rice pretty much at every meal besides rice and potatoes or corn or other grains/carbs.

One thing I've done is I just try to limit it to mainly eating it outside of home. If I go to Japanese food, I have some white rice. Or sometimes when I ate mexican food, I'll eat beans and spanish rice. If I eat chinese food, I pretty much eat pork fried rice.

Other than those times, I hardly ever eat any. My dad makes likes to make wild rice on occasion but fairly seldom.

I would start with cutting portions of rice. So like my mom often serves like a 1/3 to 1/2 a plate of rice. Start off by cutting it down to like a 1/4 plate or just eating it on a occasion.

Still, rice can be hella good sometimes. Especially Moco Loco. Totally worth it.
