Default Shin Splints / calf issues

Hi guys. Just wondering if anyone has ever had issues with shin splints or pain in shin area from Olympic lifting.

My left leg has been sore for the last two weeks. It doesn't hurt when I walk or stretch/squat, but when I roll it out on the foam roller it is super sore on the shin. It seems the location is between the bone and muscle.

I haven't been xfiting or doing any running or high impact activities.

Is your left leg, the front leg on your jerk (assuming you split jerk)?

Yes actually. Front of the left. Ive been doing high volume squats as well.

And I recently have started using weight lifting shoes. Not sure if that had anything to do with it

Your shins/calves are getting used to the movement. You also want to make sure you're landing the front foot with a vertical shin. Remember, the force you exert on the ground, the ground exerts that same force back. I'm talking from experience because I've had some knee/shin pain when I first started to split jerk.

The squats shouldn't be causing this issue. But I could be missing something.

Thanks for the feedback. I am new to Olympic specific training. I've lifted weights for about 13 years tho and haven't had to many injuries.

Trying to push myself with minimal injury. So technique is my focus right now.

Also I do warm up well before attempting my routine (mobility and getting the muscles and blood going)

If you jump rope (double under) as part of your warm up, you may also get shin splints.
