2 oz. and 3oz. of pistachios eaten with 50 grams of carbs from white bread decreased the glycemic index (GI) of the meal from 100 to 65 and 50, respectively. Unfortunately they didn't test any other nuts so who's to say this effect is unique to pistachios and not just a function of added protein and fat?
Um I thought it was basically a fact that GI means nothing if you are combining different foods?

People who prefer fruits are different from people who prefer vegetables. If you prefer fruits, you're more likely to eat more sweets, eat less spicy food, drink less wine (last time I checked grapes were fruits), cook less nutritious meals, eat less of a variety of foods, have friends over to your house less often, and are more likely to still live with your parents at age 30. (Okay, I made the last one up.)
Sounds like my 8 and 12 year old! Other than the have friends over to the house less often part, and the wine thing.

People on a low-carb diet who ate more saturated fat had a higher utilization of saturated fat and their livers produced less saturated fat. Low-carb diets seem to allow for increased use of saturated fats by the body as well as increased clearance.
Fat adapted?

Consuming Splenda lead to no changes in glucose metabolism.

Rats that were fed honey ate less and gained less weight than rats that ate sucrose.
I'd be curious as to why this might be?

Dieting without exercise is a bad idea while diet plus exercise is good. (Seriously, we need to spend thousands of government dollars on a research study to figure this out?)
