I think it is all a ploy by Kobayashi to dupe the American into backing off on his training.

That idea was stolen from Tony Kornheiser.

Kobayashi did pretty well for a guy with an arthritic jaw. 63 hot dogs... only good enough for second place. Though apparently he did hurl right after the competition, thus earning a penalty.

We had the comp on the TV in the background at my parent's house yesterday. Painful to watch. Kobayashi's spew through his fingers was disgusting.

That Chestnut guy, while he did win, is punishing his body. It's obvious when watching him. Kobayashi doesn't look strained at all compared to him.
