Eosinophilic Enteropathy Article on MSN.com
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/21246628/?GT1=10450
Quote:
Twelve-year-old Tylor Savage doesn’t have to ask what’s for dinner. It’s chicken or tuna with carrots and potatoes and maybe some grapes or an apple — the only foods to which he is not allergic.
Last September, specialists at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, where he’d been undergoing tests since April 2006, realized that what Tylor had wasn’t a stomach virus but an extremely rare condition called eosinophilic enteropathy.
Doctors found that he was allergic to nearly everything he ate, including wheat, gluten, dairy products, eggs and soy products.
|
I still can't believe it took the doctors of a decade to realize it was the food he was eating, and not stomach viruses.
I wonder if he'd be fine with free-range omega-3 chicken eggs...

I wonder if some heavy dosing of probiotics and digestive enzymes would help him? I wonder how many doses of antibiotics and perscription meds he has been on? I feel for this kid, sad.

Continued eating of potatoes will keep his gut weak, and it's not an allergic reaction.
Sounds like fancy naming of leaky gut to me!!!

God that sucks. Never heard of Eosinophilic Enetropathy until now. Very interesting but makes so much sense.

Thats what the docs at the Mayo were tossing around that they thought my wife has/had. Its not or at least that is what they say. They don't know what she has though. Something to do with her gut. They had her on MCT oil (that stuff will make you crap like a goose). Its frustrating that medicine has come a long way and yet can't fix my most cherished compadre.

I know how that feels, I'm sorry.

I'm sorry to hear that your wife's been ill. My best wishes to her improvement.

To this day, I'm wondering how Mayo got this magical reputation of theirs...
