The Krispy Kreme Diet
For those exploring the various "extreme" diet plans, Lyle McDonald proposes a "Krispy Kreme + Protein" diet.
Quote:
Krispy kreme glazed donut
Total Fat 12 g 18%
Saturated Fat 3 g 15%
Trans Fatty Acids 4 g
Cholesterol 5 mg 2%
Sodium 95 mg 4%
Total Carbohydrates 22 g 7%
Dietary Fiber 0.5 g 2%
Sugars 10 g
Protein 2 g
With 30 grams of protein, that's not far off of a zone meal
Chocolate glazed is even better
Calories 350 ( Kilojoules 1463 )
% Daily
Value*
Total Fat 20 g 31%
Saturated Fat 5 g 25%
Trans Fatty Acids 6 g
Cholesterol 5 mg 2%
Sodium 140 mg 6%
Total Carbohydrates 38 g 13%
Dietary Fiber 0.5 g 2%
Sugars 23 g
Protein 3 g
Calcium 80 mg
Throw in a 150 calories of protein powder (40 grams) and you ahve a 500 calorie meal. Do it 6X/day and you've got 3000 calories, 240 grams of protein, 240 grams of carbs and 120 grams of fat. 32% protein, 32% carbs, 32% fat. Isocaloric ho.

Best for bulking or cutting?
In reality, I bet more people would try this as an actual diet than not. I get kind of ill after one of those gut bombs. My kids, on the other hand, can clean out a dozen in about 3 minutes.

There is a minor leauge baseball park in the midwest that serves Krispy Kreme Double Bacon Cheeseburgers (the doughnut is cut in half then turned inside out so that the glaze is on the inside).
If they can figure out a way to deep fry the entire thing, I might actually try it.
Damn I am hugry.

4g of Trans per donut? 6g in a chocolate? Wow! And here it bothers me to have any level of trans even in my cheat meals.
