2nd Oly Meet
Aboutv5 months ago, I decided as a 45yo grandma to focus my attention and training solely on Olifting. I competed in my first meet in early February and totaled 61kg. I know it wasnt much but hey it was something and was only on about 2.5 months of training with time off for 2 nasty injuries!!
This past Sunday I did my 2nd meet and totaled at 66kg. Slight yet still an increase. My coach feels with some more tweaking I can easily hit a 40kg SN and 50 CJ at my next meet (as of now) in early Aug. After all my BS is at 82.5kg, so my back is strong!!

Great work, Sarena! Don't sell yourself short; coaches seem a little optimistic about the weights they tell us. A 5 kg increase is damn good, especially in your weight class. Stay strong.
I thought that was a strapless singlet at first.

Sarena,
Went back and watched your video a few times. For five months of training, that's awesome. At this stage, you're like me - still wanting to lose the fear and get under the weight, right? Give it time. I am. I will consider competing when I turn 40 , plus I hope to be somewhere close to 105 by then.
Congratulations on the "cowboy up" because so few of us have the true commitment to don the singlet and hop on the stage. My thoughts and admiration go out to you and your effort as well as the commitment/sacrifice you made in training and getting ready for the event. Excellent work.
All the best,
Arden

Thanks to all of my coaches, you here at PM and those that offer encouragement at CF, I am really enjoying it too!! The funny thing was the other day my 25yo married son (who lives overseas and is here now) said to me something along the lines of women are supposed to be weak and why do I lift weights!! I was shocked that he is my son!! So yeah, its sad but I really do not get any support or encouragement from my family!!
And Arden I guess you missed the thread I started a while back regarding singlets I was a bit weirded out by it all, but it is really less revealing than the bikinis I finally have the guts to wear (after being 225# for many years....) And why wait to compete??

Nice work Sarena. You coming to LBH in May? That and the CT Open I think I might finally be back for.
