Eat for what your hunger tells you. Some fruit is fine since pwo fructose goes to replenish liver glycogen (which gets drained doing IF + fasted exercise). You want the liver to function properly too since it has an important role in muscle building hormones. Make sure to get in enough protein. You don't have to stick to all low carb veggies....especially if you are already eating enough veggies and fat throughout the day. Play around with it, see how your body responds and don't sweat the little things as it sounds like you are doing things alright.

I do starchy carbs PWO (or if I need a cheat meal I'll do it PWO), but if I do this too much it's impossible to lose weight. But if I never do a starchy carb PWO meal then my recovery sucks and I'd only be able to train like once a week or something. So for me carb cycling is the way to go... starchy carbs PWO but not for every workout.

I think PWO nutrition depends upon your goals. If you are seeking hypertrophy (weight gain or better yet, muscle gain) - PWO with the bcaas, aminos, fast acting proteins and glucose are in order. If you are seeking strength increase or increase power output without the extra weight - I don't see that insulin spike as important; just general nutrition that can be obtained from food sources. Just my opinion if it hasn't already been articulated by others.
All the best,
Arden

Speaking of which... the t-nation article posted like a week ago was pure CRAP.

I especially like this part...

Insulin is the anabolic hormone in the body. Stimulating insulin at key times during the day will boost your body's muscle building potential. Don't go carbohydrate crazy. Taking in starchy carbohydrates (rice, oatmeal, yams, dextrose, etc.) first thing in the morning and during and after your workout will provide the proper timing to insulin surges that will maximize muscle growth while minimizing fat gains.

I guess that's why those top level bodybuilders shoot up insulin..... oh wait....

Shooting insulin without a need? Wild... sounds like a death wish... to each their own (shrug)
I was wondering I have been incorporating some grapes, bluberries and coconut water when I am looking for some increased insulin after a WO think that'll do the trick?
I have thought about fresh veggie juice carrot beat etc. as I have a nice juicer I rarely ever use.... I can't decide whether thats just me trying to make myself feel better about intake of refined carbs.
