I'm not sure how many people have seen this, but the interplay of diet and disease is pretty fascinating to me.
In the video, Loren Cordain is explaining the mechanisms behind multiple sclerosis and diet. It turns out that a leaky gut is the explanation (if my understanding of leaky gut is correct). Anyway, lectins pass through the gut and make our immune systems attack our own cells. He has some fairly compelling anecdotal evidence at the end of the lecture.
It turns out tomatoes are double bad because they contain lectins, just like soybeans. So they cause inflammation as well as auto immune disorders ...
