Athlete's Zone for Idiots...

Idiots meaning me and my mother. I've been following the Zone diet for about a month now, and I'm trying to up my fat blocks at the moment. What's hindering me from doing so is that my mother thinks that upping the fat to 2-5x the normal Zone prescription is dangerous for my health. I need a primer for the Athlete's Zone to help me explain to my mother...and to me, maybe.

Thank you for your help, Mike. Unfortunately, my mother can't be convinced, she just keeps on saying "This can't be right. That's too many calories from fat! And those Inuit live in a totally different environment than SoCal!" Oh well, I'm the one cooking my own meals, so she really can't do anything about it . I should talk about the French paradox with her...

perhaps taubes good calories, bad calories may be too much for her - but i love taubes response to the french "paradox"
