Cool, I didn't even realize they had it spread out over a week. It makes sense of course but on the TV it all happens in a matter of an hour!

Arden,
Is your friend competing this year? I'm assuming you're going to watch?

IMO, there are a few that are obvious. A vast majority are big "farm strong" boys that their physical presence makes you awe inspired. At least it awes me and I've been around big folk all my life.
All the best,
Arden

Allen,
Actually two of my good friends are in the line up this year - Phil Pfister (2006 WSM winner) and Brian Siders. Brian got his invite three weeks ago and hasn't had much time to get accustomed to the implements, but his physical strength is unworldly.
Brian is legitimate lifetime drug free - gets tested several times a year at Random intervals - and has squatted over 1000, benched over 800 and deadlifted over 860 in IPF (not APF/IPA or whatever) world sanctioned meets. At a raw (no super suits or bench shirts) meet last year, he squatted (approximately) 780, benched 620 and deadlifted 860. He's not from this planet in regards to weight room strength. He will NOT have a problem with the heavier implements. But one would expect him to have some difficulty with the traditional strong man events - plane pull and stones.
Either way, it's gonna be fun as all get out ot watch.
I'm doing a lumberjack demo before the keg toss elimination this Saturday. More of a distraction for the kids and families in attendance. My 74 year old father is going to help me pull it off. Should be fun.
All the best,
Arden

How was everything? I was reading the updates that Nick was posting over on his beyondstrong blog. It seems like it was a very close competition.

It was. Marius edged out Poundstone in the the stones for 1st. Ostland edged Pfister in the same event for 3rd.
The placings, from memory, were 1. Marius 2. Derek 3. Dave Ostland 4. Pfister 5. Ortmayer.
Hard to believe there were 4 Americans in the top five. That's impressive in and among itself.
All the best,
Arden
