His patient, Irving Shaffino, a 15-year-old Mexican-American who lives outside Lubbock, Texas, was lucky to get a transplant a year ago. He was in end-stage cirrhosis and, at 5-feet-4 1/2, weighed 180 pounds.

Sadly, however, Irving has made little progress in losing weight. While he's grown an inch and a half since his operation, he's still obese and his weight was up to 219 last month.

What's wrong with this picture?

So sad... need to get these kids on a good diet...
Its pretty obvious in that article they're like blaming obesity and then they're saying they're feeding the kid burgers, pizza and high starch food. I mean.. wtf?

I thought they said the burgers, pizza, and high starch foods were to blame for his obesity, and now he's eating fruits, vegetables, and "whole grains." (Of course, that could just be a way of saying that he's downing lots of so-called "healthy" bread).
Regardless, something is definitely wrong if someone refines their diet and becomes more obese.

I never read the article but my Anatomy teacher pointed out a new "study" trying to pin blame of obesity on distorted genes that occur when people are in the infancy.
Regardless, every time people stem away from the actual cause of problems that deal with hypokinetic diseases, especially obesity, etc. No responsibility or personal initiative to directly deal with the cause. sad.

Corn? This makes me angry
http://www.sweetsurprise.com/index.php
No wonder Americans are fat, hypertensive, diabetics. This is the nutritional information being fed to them (pun not so intended). This is almost as bad as Men's Health trying to tell everyone to eat high carb and low fat for more energy.

Hey a twinkie came from has vegetable oil in it...so it must be good for you since it came from vegetables right? I can see it now....
"twinkies are from spinach......so make sure you get your 5 servings a day!"
