I think Cordain is really smart, but I'm not sure I agree with all of his recommendations. Obviously, some people might have a problem with beans, but if you're not one of them, I think they're fine. (For what it's worth, eggs are also on Cordain's "avoid" list.)

Cordain recommends eggs in 'paleo diet for athletes'...

Im not really diggin that Bowen guy...but i gotta say ive just dug out the pomegranate thats been sitting in my fridge for 2 weeks and eaten 1/4 of it!

It's been a while since I read The Paleo Diet but from what I recall I think he said you can eat them but try to limit the amount as well as try to get the omega-3 enriched type.

There is no doubt that Paleolithic people woild have eaten wild birds eggs whenever they found them but this wasn't that often. Also, wild bird eggs are nutritionally different from domesticated chicken eggs; they have higher levels of beneficial omega 3 fat and lower levels of artery-clogging saturated fat. This means that you should limit consumption of eggs to six a week. You should also buy eggs enriched with omega 3 fats.

I thought saturated fats and cholesterol don't cause atherosclerosis

From what I know they don't.

Carbs and inflammation do... and too much LDL.
