Definitely a lifter to keep in mind. Sounds like she'll be tearing up the competition in not too long.

She seems to be all over the sports pages in the UK at the minute. Great to see the sport getting some attention over here, as it's been completely dying on its arse for the past 10 years or so. She looks like she's got some real potential, although she'll still only be 18 when London 2012 comes around, so I doubt she'll have much of a chance of taking a medal when the inevitable Chinese invasion comes to town.

Still, at least it raises the profile of the sport a little and she might get a little funding from the publicity - at the moment British lifters don't see a penny of the Olympic funding budget, that all gets ploughed into the sports we've traditionally done well at like cycling and athletics. And yes, it is a little disheartening to see a 14 year old girl with roughly the same numbers in the lifts as me!

As an addendum to my previous post, here's an article about her from British tabloid rag The Daily Mail - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...dy-weight.html

The article is very positive and paints the sport in a good light. Just a shame to see the incredible ignorance and bitterness in the 'comments' section underneath. Nice to see the girl herself posted a response to her critics about half way down the comments, standing up for herself. She seems well spoken and intelligent as well as strong as shit!

I agree. So many un-informed people out there. Most definately an impressive lass though! Will be interesting to see how she progresses.

58kg 14 year old girls who throw 95kg overhead make me feel like a wimp.

Definitely impressive though.

Awesome!!! I love it.

My 11 year old made me promise to buy her a Werksan women's bar when she can jerk 50 kilos. She's very determined too.

I love this stuff.

All the best,
Arden

I will be fearful if she does that before 2010 or 12. Then again, I would not be surprised either.
