Max attempt definition
I'll be doing saturday's WOD tomorrow and don't know what the max attempt loading means . Is it working up to 3 attempts at a given weight , as written in the info section , or something else ?
Thanks for the help.

You get three chances to see how much weight you can lift in a given lift. Kind of like a meet.

Why limit yourself to three attempts for each lift?

Because if you can't make it in 3 attempts, the chances are slim that you're going to make it. If it's a genuine max attempt, you'll be pretty burned after one, let alone 3. And if it's not your only max attempt in a training session, you're just blowing your wad and pretty much guaranteeing failure to make records on subsequent lifts. And by going on marathon record attempt sessions, you're asking for an injury.

Oh - And to clarify the 3 attempts. That means you get 3 attempts to make a given record weight. For example, if your best snatch is 100, and you try 101 and miss 3 times, you're done. If you make it the first time, generally a good call is to move on and be happy with the record. However, if you obviously have more in you, go for it. Point is, it doesn't mean try to make 3 new records on an exercise.

Thanks everyone for the confirmation . I just wanted to double check .
By the way , Greg , thank you so much for this site . I've been following the WODs , with a somewhat modified schedule due to my work days , and I love it . I'd been Crossfitting for about 1.5 years but wanted to do more oly lifting .
Also , it was "fun" yesterday , here in New Hampshire , to have to shovel my way into the garage gym where it was 29 degrees before turning on the heater . It got up to ~ 36 degrees but my daughter , who is a college swimmer , home on break , thought the temp was just right for her lifting workout .
Thanks again for all the help.

That makes sense. I took it to mean that you had three attempts total. That is, if your best snatch is 100kg, you miss 101, then make it, miss 102.5, and then you'd be done and not allowed a second attempt at 102.5kg.
