Default Great Training Day!

I just thought I'd share my attempts from today's practice. I'm really excited just because I've never lifted so well (minus my 2nd c&j) before.

Well done Brian. Again, you are one rugged dude. I reckon you could win an novice bodybuilding contest with no diet or preparation. You bastard.

Seems like your jerks are a bit forward and a bit hurried? Are you flexing your glutes before you go into your dip? I've found that I can get a lot of extra pop on the jerk, if I flex my glues and turn my toes out just a tad as I'm inhaling that big breath before I jerk. I then hold the breath for about a second, then dip and jump. It might not hurt to really exaggerate "sticking your head through the window" as that first one might have been a press out. Third one was solid as rock though.

Again, excellent work.

All the best,
Arden

Thanks, Arden, I've been told that before. Most people who don't know me assume I am a BBer. It's funny, 6 months ago I was 70kg, now I'm 75, big difference.

The biggest problem with my jerk is I don't take a long enough split, but I wasn't quite concerned with my jerks today as I was with my cleans. My best jerk from the rack is 127.5 so I don't have to worry too much about that just yet if these are play weights. Normally I do take a slight pause at the bottom of my dip to catch the bounce of the bar as I drive.

Thanks,Dave, I'm just trying to do what I can with what I've got. Greg's got my programming down pat, I'm just following it. Hopefully I can make a qualifying total for the Americans this year.

Hah, thanks, Kevin. I'm decent, but I could be much better if my technique was equal to my strength.

I think it's a few things:

- these are Eleiko plates
- the 15kg plates are the only ones that really bounce, the 20s not so much
- I'm also throwing the weight down as well so there's more than just gravity

I think I'm going to the ECG meet in Jersey that weekend instead.
