Who Said this???
Several months ago I read a comment or quote here.... I am paraphrasing as best i can remember it!
....The number one way to guarantee injury in to place an athlete in a competitive atmosphere do movements or exercises they have not trained for.....
So who said it, where did this come from I like it and want to use.
Steve

Take unfamiliar & untrained movements, get a bunch of highly-trained athletes in a highly competitive atmosphere, and have them go balls-out for extended periods of time.

I seached, gradually reducing the terms until I got down to 'injury' 'competetive' and 'atmosphere'.

I know that the competitive atmosphere at BJJ tournaments amplifies injury potential big time... you wont know it till later that night or the next day and then it can be like wow i didnt even notice that when it happened

Yes, I think we just might, Steven. Unless they realize what a misguided thing that would be beforehand...
Let's see. Glassman:
Quote:
|
"Unsound mechanics at submaximal loads = injuries."
|
Pat Sherwood, traveling CFHQ trainer:
Quote:
|
"Unsafe is unacceptable," Sherwood said. "But perfect form is also unacceptable. What we look for is CrossFit slop."
|
I'll leave the math to others. If something doesn't compute, I'd say you're on the right track.

I thought the observation was referring to this:
"A 26-mile race like the Boston Marathon can do a number on a runner's body.
Boston EMS reported treating 900 runners at its two medical tents set up along the race, which is more than in past years. They also said three people suffered heart attacks during the race.
They also reported seeing about 150 significant injuries suffered along the route, and about 60 people were transported to area hospitals.
Most of the incidents included dehydration, hyponatremia, a condition that occurs when there is not enough salt in the blood, and a few cases of hypothermia." --wbztv.com, Boston local
