Default Open source video analysis software

Came across some neat open source video analysis software while looking for a free alternative to Dartfish:

Not nearly as fancy, but it's fairly new and the developer(s) are rapidly adding features. I was able to generate bar path trajectories in about two minutes. So if you are looking for some simple analyses (eg, bar paths, syncing multiple videos, etc), you may want to check this out. It's pretty cool.

Is this also a good general video software editor? (for just editing video, adding titles/music/audio...etc). I need something like that soon and don't know what is out there.

Thanks for the link - I'll have to check this out next time I film a session. Dartfish hates the files my camera produces, so it'd be nice to not have to convert them every time I want to look at bar paths. I like the idea of syncing 2 videos too, could come in very handy.

I don't think it's meant to be a general video editor. I use iMovie for the basics, and I'm happy with it.

For general video editing software there are plenty of options out there.

For the last year i've been using Magix movie edit pro 14. It's the first time i've ever used editing software and I found it pretty easy to use for adding titles, cutting clips, adding music, doing voiceovers etc etc.

It's got a million features and can be used to do full blown hollywood style stuff but I haven't bothered to get much past the basics.

I think they are up to version 15 now and if you are shooting in HD get the "plus" edition.

You can check out all the videos i've done here

Back on topic, that free thing looks good, i've downloaded it and i'll have a play around with it at some stage
