Reduced/no pulling in metcons?
I spent a while not doing any metcons. recently i've come back to them for fun, and as a result my callouses have gotten dramatically more painful. i noticed in the past months that i could do much more pulling work than normal. now i think that part of the reason i could is just the reduced skin pinching which would make me tap early on a hard workout.
i do a good job of cleaning callouses up, but if they are getting tormented too hard too frequently, then they hurt regardless of how clean i've kept them. thus if i waste my skin on metcons, then i can't use it for strength work.
my question is just whether anybody else has eliminated a lot of pulling from metcons to save hands for more strength work.

What kind of pulling are you doing when you're conditioning?
I rarely see anyone mention doing any sort of metabolic conditioning circuits anymore on this board.
Even outside of the CF world most of the metabolic stuff I've seen people mention on discussion boards, blogs, website etc. involves strict pull ups, body rows etc. Rarely are there any sorts of high rep deadlifts in a circuit format, and even more rare to see high rep oly lifts. And nobody really does kipping pull ups anymore.
If your hands are taking a beating doing strict pulls in a conditioning workout, then there are a couple options.
A) Stop doing them.
B) switch to strongman medleys and save up to buy a Prowler.

And if you don't think kettleball squat cleans are difficult, I say, step up to the med-ball

Strongman medleys are not easy on the hands either, but the Prowler is a good idea. Otherwise, get to know the burpee and the short sprint/run. Besides an occasional complex, I haven't used a barbell for conditioning for a loooong time. I'd rather save my hands for the strength stuff since there are a million ways to get yourself out of breath.

one particular one had KB snatches and pullups. out of habit, i still do kipping pullups in metcons. that's the only time i still do them.
sometimes i'll hook a rope to some kinda container and put a bunch of weights in there. then i'll stand at the other end of the room and drag it as i keep my feet rooted. it was a big culprit in this as well.
