Weightlifting Set - Eleiko - Werksan - others
hey,
To get a little bit of my background. I'm a novice lifter, living in Germany and i need a weightlifting set!
The pricing is a little bit different in Europe.
140kg set with china bar and china bumpers 1000$
We already have this and it's OK for CrossFit but i want little bit more bang for the bug! And i only want to buy one set! :-) Not every 5 years a new one!
To Import a 187kg WerkSan Training set from Turkey (not far away :-) ) would cost me approximatly 2600$ (including 600$ import Tax)
Eleiko 187kg Training Set 3500$ (but at least no import tax because i can buy it in germany). The more shocking thing is that the bar is only 900$ and the rest is for the black training bumpers! Too much for my wallet!
So my idea was to buy a eleiko training bar in europe and try to import the rogue colored disks for 1300$ (including transport and import tax) but only if they are available in kilo as well.
So i would get a set for 2200$!
Or would you rather go for the werksan set?
My last try is to get a used werksan set from the WWC in antalya.
Coach Burgener pointed me in this direction, that the most organizers sell the equipment after the competition. But the guys from Turkey do not respond to my e-mail! :-(
Or any other ideas?
Cheers,
Rolf

I have limited experience with bumpers. All I have is Werksan training bumpers. I had really good luck with the Werksan distributor here in the US.
I would go for the used set if it were me. If they were used for a meet or two how bad can they be? I scour the the internet for used stuff and have been somewhat successful.
It sounds like your options are pretty expensive. How hard is it to drive to an Eleikio distributor? You could save on shipping, by driving there, which is the bitter pill to swallow.
Good luck.

So the next eleiko distributor is not very far away (200km so thats 120miles i think)! I think the eleiko training bar is a very good option. It would not be cheaper to import a pendley bar from the US. :-)
Thanks for your reply

Hi garrett,
thanks a lot for your reply!
I wrote an e-mail to sportserwis.net.pl and they sent an offer within 4h.
The bars look very nice, and the price is a bit lower than the werksan!
I think i will buy a eleiko training bar! It's a lot of money, but in this i case i know i spend the money on the bar, not on tax and shipping.
For bumpers i think i search for something used:
DHS hercules, Werksan, rogue discs...
A friend of mine has a container, ready to ship, in the US. Maybe he can fit some discs in for me.

Glad you found it useful Rolf
I like the Zhangong Bars better than the Werksan but thats a personal preference.
I dont think you will go wrong with an Eleiko.
