Checkout their squats, some can squat in upper 400s/ 500s and still can't break 1:00 in 400m
Trey Hardee (dec) has a video on his site where he squats in the 400s, and runs a 47".

By the way, here's why Crossfit Endurance and it's "anaerobic endurance" never works for 10k, HM, Marathons, Ultras. From Transfer of Training in Sport, Bondarchuk/Yessis:



This is for the 10k (6.2mi), notice the low transfer of <1000 distances. Divide that by 4 for the marathon, and the correlation disappears.
