yeah this one is a pretty good example of what may be happening to the crossfitters that get butt arms and neglect seeing treatment. Its going to be interesting to see them in 10-15 years, how many times the rhabdo has relapsed. It seems that the first incidence of rhabdo, compartment syndrome, or arm swelling is a catalyst for repeat rhabdo, with a snow ball effect in a gradual increase in kidney damage; the kidney and liver scarring has already taken place, and its almost like they totally never recover, because I've run across many many cases like this where they get rhabdo and continue to struggle with irregular and elevated CK levels years later. I wonder if they'll develop kidney necrosis. Oh wait, that probably explains the kidney transplants. Which again, makes me wonder what type of kidney and liver damage we'll see in long term crossfitters that are consistently exposed to irregular loads, volumes, and intensity, and induce weekly chronic soreness and chronic elevated CK levels. That can't be good for the kidneys. The most difficult thing about doing these rhabdo searches, is running across the children with cancer that develop rhabdomyolysis. These are 4-5 year old babies, and often repeat rhabdo because of the previous damage and scarring, and some of them don't make it. Its devastating to read those online.
