It would seem this classic needs an update:

Old Version
Here is a hierarchy of training for mass from greater to lesser efficacy:
1. Bodybuilding on steroids
2. CrossFitting on steroids
3. CrossFitting without steroids
4. Bodybuilding without steroids

New Version
0. CrossFitting on fish oil
1. Bodybuilding on steroids
2. CrossFitting on steroids
3. CrossFitting without steroids
4. Bodybuilding without steroids

One second thought, maybe this is more accurate:

New Version
1. Men on bodybuilding
2. Women on crossfitting
3. Women on bodybuilding
4. Men on crossfitting

As the saying goes -- Crossfit, making women hot and men small since 1974.

We all know at this point with the last 280 pages of overkill that its not really being appropriately handled, that again, there's damage going on, and very little quality guidance and programming. But now that we have a pretty strong and consistant following on this thread, I want to move this discussion to you all.

As people obviously interested in fitness and athletic training, what are the problems that you all are pursuing to answer that you have not found yet?
What goals are you all pursuing?
And what information do you wish you had your hands on that you do not have?

That could either 1) achieve your goals at a higher quality and efficiency, or 2) achieve your goals and improve the quality of your coaching
********** I saw the Soviet men's volleyball team in the 80's perform a warm up that looked like a circus. Walking on hands, back flip, forward flip and other acrobatic moves often performing a technical skill like a dig after. This is real GPP. Other sports that enhance your sport. Examples would be gymnastics, acrobatics, track and field etc. Not tire flipping an/or backward sled dragging.

Breaking news!!!

CrossFit founding father, Coach, declares war on the American College of Sports Medicine and Gatorade. CrossFit staff members Russell Greene, Dale Saran, and some guy called Brian Chontosh charge in to crush dissent amongst the massed ranks of CrossFitters, while Lynne Pitts hands out free books from the sidelines. Three well regarded forum members banned to date with more sure to follow.
