Benchmarks for Lifters
I was looking for any feedback on how to gauge skill/ability levels of Olympic Weightlifters.
Mark Rippetoe has a few benchmarks that he feels indicate a strong person - "a .75x bodyweight squat, a 2x bodyweight deadlift, and a .75x bodyweight press constitute a well-developed strength base"
Does anybody have any thoughts on equivalent measurements for the O-lifts? That is, what benchmarks relative to bodyweight should I set for beginner athletes? I am just growing my club so most of my athletes would be considered beginners so I thought setting out standards might be helpful for them as well as me as a coach.
Are there other benchmarks I should be using i.e. mobility, conditioning, other lifts, etc?
I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have.
