Default 30 min training/post op recovery.

30 min training/post op recovery.

First: I had a bowel re-segment on the first of March this year and am getting back to lifting now. Being my second through the same incision, iíve been told to take it very slow. Any thoughts you guys have about getting back to scratch then starting from scratch would be well appreciated.

Second: I have about 30 minutes to train in the mornings. If I really put a crunch on it I can get about 40 minutes. This generally includes warm-up time. Thus far I have been doing one lift and some calisthenics. EXE: Back squat 5x5 with a smattering of dips, pull-ups, and sit-ups (these still hurt around the incision). As above, any helpful commentary on this would be appreciated.

If you're starting from scratch, I suggest starting with body weight movements first. After that you can move to DBs and KBs and then eventually to an empty barbell. Make sure you progress only if the incision is not becoming irritated.

Also, it might be a good idea to keep the reps low (nothing over 5) and stay clear of quick explosive movements (i.e. cleans, snatches, jerks, plyometrics).

I dont know if your doctor gave you anything to take care of the incision but if they did make sure you're taking extra care of that area as directed.
