Default Glute Ham Raises off a high jerk box?

Hi,

Have nearly finished a set of jerk boxes for my son that in total will be about 48" high (catalyst plans).

I saw a video somewhere of a chinese coach holding onto a lifters straight legs as he was doing raises over the side of a jerk box.

Does anyone think that will do the whole GHR exercise sufficiently?

While on the topic - any other exercises that they can be put to (other than jerks & snatches from different heights)??

I don't have a link to the video (although I know which one you're talking about), but something you can do is to rig a strap around one end of the box to put your heels under for the glute ham raises. Use an adjustable seat belt type strap and some padding along the front of the box where the thighs will go, and you're good to go.

Performed like that they're more of a hamstring raise than a glute-ham raise. In the glute-ham raise the fulcrum is somewhere on the thigh and in the hamstring raise it's just below the knee. That makes the movement much much more difficult and even though I can do +10 GHR I can't even do a single HR.

OK.

I have a space problem. sounds like the ham raise is harder. does that make it better than a GHR or just different?
