Default Multiple reps.

I've noticed on a few training videos that some athletes do not stand up with every repetition on snatches when performing multiple (2-3) reps. They catch the bar in the squat position, stabilize, then let the bar fall forward before doing the next rep, then stand with the last attempt. So...why? when? what for? yes/no?

One of my coaches used to have me do this simply to save my legs. I mean, if you are getting pinned by a snatch - literally having trouble standing it up - then you have bigger problems. So, dumping in the bottom is a way of avoiding the squat to save your legs for a second or third rep.

Thanks! My technique is nowhere near my strength level, so I don't think i'll ever need to save my legs for the snatch, unless I squat beforehand.

Yea, I believe it's just to save energy for the higher repetitions and I'm sure there are other reasons why people do that (being lazy) but personally, I don't recommend it.

You have to stand up with the bar overhead to complete the rep.
