I've been weightlifting for a couple of years, throwing (highland games) and from 2002-2009 was a competitive strongman. In 2007 I did a couple of weightlifting meets but despite being very strong (280kg back squat / 210kg front squat at the time) my form was nowhere near what it is now even though I'm much weaker now... I think my best competition lifts were 96/122.
Being a strength athlete for so long also means, for the most part, I am an old fart as well (36). I'm also huge, but I'm down 3 dozen pounds and look to be down much more as I have a goal to be at a healthy weight by the time I'm 40 - less of a strength goal and more of a "dad" goal.
Anyway, I figured that I would join for advice every once in awhile, and just to announce myself.
