Default Josh's Log

Hello,

I am attempting to try and compete in the Iron Egg Classic in Lansing Michigan on October 25th. I plan to start my training cycle on Monday August 4th. That will give me 12 weeks to get ready. I am a masters lifter who has competed twice in the past, but not within the last year. I work full time that requires days I travel over 400 miles in a car, have a wife, two boys and a dog. I am lucky enough to have 140 Kilos in bumpers a half way decent bar and a squat stand. My Goal for the meet is to total 250 with a 110 snatch and 140 clean and jerk. My previous best is a 108 snatch and 125 clean and jerk. I have chosen to follow the strength development cycle off of the website to prepare for the meet. The ultimate goal is to be able to qualify for the worlds and is the star allign compete in the event.

Thanks
Josh

Default Monday 8/4

Power SN+2 SN - 65, 65, 70,70,70
Jerk - 90 x 3,90 x 3, 100 x 3, 100 x 3, 100 x 3
Clean Pull - 120 x 7, 120 x 7, 120 x 7, 120 x 7
Back Squat - 90 x 8, 100 x 8, 105 x 6, 115 x 6, 115 x 6

Didn't feel to bad after. First real training session in a few months. The Jerks were hard had to reset to the shoulders after each rep. One issue I noticed was the bar was looping a little on the first 3 sets of snatch, got better on the last two after thinking about keeping tight to the bar. On to Tuesday's session, Power Clean + Clean, Snatch balance and Push Press. I dread snatch balance but they help me.

Default need to shut it down

I read the article about the difference betweent the athlete and the exerciser. I am at the point that i need to be an exerciser. with the family and job commitments i dont have the ability to dedicate to serious training.
