Ironmind Jim Schmitz DVD on Olympic Weightlifting
I plan to gradually integrate some OL into my routine this summer and since it has been about 12 years since I have had the benefit of having a knowledgeable instructor, I know I will be rusty. Here in good old SW VA, there absolutely nobody within 100 miles that can offer me instruction. I noticed the Schmitz DVD in Ironmind's catalog and wonder if that would be a good instructional tool in the absence of a real instructor. Of course, nothing beats real instruction and immediate feedback.
Has anyone seen the DVD that can comment on it or can recommend something better (besides, of course, the excellent PM video links)?

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1

I have the tape set from Schmitz. Fun to watch, but if you'd like something heavy on the technical instruction, I'd look elsewhere.

Bobby,
I'm kind of in the same boat--no one really close that teaches olympic lifting.
I haven't seen the Schmitz video, but I did pick up the two DVDs from World Class Coaching:

I am just starting to dig into them, and thus far I am very impressed with the quality and detail of the information. Also, a lot of people more knowledgable than myself speak very highly of the material.

I have not seen the the World Class stuff, but I have Schmitz videos and DJs as well. I would get DJ's.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I will admit a slight bias toward Ironmind but I am not so loyal that I will look over something better. I looked at the World Class site and bookmarked it. I am still open to anymore suggestions and I am in no hurry to make a purchase since I will not start working in some OL until June or July. Feel free to revive this thread.

OH NOES! FORESHADOWING!
The WCC vids are extremely detailed, so much so that I found it very distracting after a while.

Let me guess: A certain lady with the intials of AA will be featured. Sounds like a great project and here's hoping it goes well.

don't be silly. that doesn't even make any sense.
What did you find distracting? Just that it was info overload? Was the necessary info there and just choked out by the superfluous? Or did they forget the fundamentals in favor of high-brow charts and graphs like they seem want to do?

Let's take the Clean tape, for example.
How many times do you need to run through the steps, and, in addition, change some of them a little along the way?
Hell, it's been a few years since I've seen it, maybe 4 or so. I gave my copy to someone else, so I can't review it right now.
Is there such a thing as being too thorough? Maybe, if you present the material in such a way that someone might be unwilling to try it.
