Dr. Eric Serrano Interview at T-Mag
http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=1552917
I have kind of followed what Eric Serrano says for years now. This interview was a doozy.

If you have a patient who's under an extreme amount of stress and they're already producing quite a bit of cortisol, by giving them just enough exogenous cortisone, it can help lower their endogenous cortisol production significantly through feedback inhibition. It's a way of tricking the body!

However, if you topically apply licorice cream to an area, guess what happens? You lose fat in that area! I'm not making this stuff up — it's been confirmed through ultrasound measurements.

Take the animal kingdom for example. When a lion kills its prey, the king of the litter will come and eat the liver first. Then everyone else can have the rest. No one can touch that liver except for the king. Why? Something is going on but we don't really know the answer.

Is one oil better than another? It depends on the situation. If you have a lot of joint pain, then coconut oil is better. It does help the joints.

He says some interesting things, many of which I agree with.
Boy, he sure is quick to start giving hormones! He sounds to me like he thinks many things can be repaired in the body with a little help--*except* the endocrine system...
As for the microdosing cortisol, I'm actually starting to work with the Helen Foundation http://www.microdose.com/, who uses a combination of food allergy testing and tapered microdoses of cortisol to get people out of the inflammatory cycles that they are in. It makes sense to me, and it works with the lack of patience most people have towards "fixing" themselves (as in, not being able to be off nightshades for several months to truly see the benefit). Even with the microdoses of cortisol, the DIET is the most important thing--after the initial "shower" of cortisol, the patient is weaned off and the diet is the major player. That's why I liked it. I felt like it addressed the cause WITH a little help.
Hearsay from someone else who dealt with several of Dr. Serrano's ex-patients: his initial treatment is great, his follow-up and accessibility to patients not-so-great.

He's not an endocrinologist.
I have a strong interest in endocrinology, since I've got a kid who's panhypopit.

Interesting article, some things I found a bit off the wall but what he said about enzymes was interesting and omega 3's. The other stuff I just don't know anything about.

I've got a pretty good theory on the liver consumption after hunting: The liver is LOADED with glycogen. Post WO meal anyone? Hunters of all sorts, human to feline tend to eat the liver and heart immediately after the kill.
