If you're starting from scratch, I suggest starting with body weight movements first. After that you can move to DBs and KBs and then eventually to an empty barbell. Make sure you progress only if the incision is not becoming irritated.
Also, it might be a good idea to keep the reps low (nothing over 5) and stay clear of quick explosive movements (i.e. cleans, snatches, jerks, plyometrics).
I dont know if your doctor gave you anything to take care of the incision but if they did make sure you're taking extra care of that area as directed.
