Can anyone tell me what type of shoes the guy in the picture is wearing? Are they lifting shoes? Can't really tell and have always wondered every time I see his picture.

EF - yes those are lifting shoes. enlarge the pic and you can see the raised heel.

Gotta congratulate Steve on his neat arrangement of plates there. 25s out to 10s, very nice!

Snatch: 190lbs, fail, fail, 190lbs, fail

shut it down. should i shut it down when i feel weak or push through?
Greg Everett 11 | 2011-07-22
Matt -

Usually give yourself 3 attempts at a weight before you move on. Sometimes when you're feeling bad, you can push through and lift better than you expect, so you don't want to cut it off prematurely; but if you're really not feeling it, don't push yourself to the point of injury or grinding yourself down so hard you can't train the next day.

Well...that was nothing like Tuesday's success. Here's to hoping for a better Saturday
