Modern running footwear is designed for one purpose: to allow you to perform a powerful heel strike without crushing your leg…all at once, it just takes a little more time. They are also a nice way of fleecing you of your cash. Biomechanical analysis shows unshod running to be 2-5% more efficient than shod running. For scie......

The post workout period is the preferred time to perform intensive stretching, as the tissues are still warm and pliable. Before you get jiggy with Pigeon Pose or Dead Bug, however, get your soft tissue primed for release and healing by using a foam roller. Foam rolling, like Active Release Technique and other similar modalities, break up adhesions and encourage the healing of scar tissue.......

The integrity and health of your soft tissue is vital not only to continued progress, but also to maximizing your longevity as an athlete, whether competitive or recreational. If you are plagued by aches, pains or limited range of movement, you may have significant scar tissue or adhesions that may improve with various modalities and interventions. One of the very best modalities is Active Release Technique. Pictured is Dr. John Fragoso.......

Check out Dr. Stephen Seiler’s Time Course of Training Adaptations. Don’t let the endurance slant scare you! The adaptations can describe most any training in many ways. Strength training causes initial biochemical and cellular changes (1st wave) but one must achieve remarkable efficiency to reach the top tier of strength athletics (3rd wave). ......
