September 5 2007, Robb Wolf,
Shoes Suck. Ok they are nice if you work construction or see Code Browns in a hospital but if you are one of those people who like to run…ditch your shoes. Why? Modern running footwear is designed for one purpose: to allow you to perform a powerful heel strike without crushing your leg…all at once, it just takes a little more time. They are also a nice way of fleecing you of your cash. Biomechanical analysis shows unshod running to be 2-5% more efficient than shod running. For sciency info checkout Sportsci.org. For info on transitioning to the barefoot running style give this a look.

Greg,
Nice pedicure, what nail polish
do you recommend for running?
Greg Everett 2 | 2007-09-05
You'd have to ask Robb. He's the barefoot hippie.

This is very interesting. I have most of my clients train barefoot. I love this post!

I wish more people would train barefoot.

I wish more gyms would let us train barefoot.

I thought those were Robb's feet

Those ARE my feet...any issues with that?!

I go back and forth on the barefoot training in the gym. I'd like everyone to do it but hygiene issues, real or perceived, are certainly a factor. I do the bulk of my training barefoot and I really prefer it.
