May 10 2007, Robb Wolf,
Safe, incremental sun exposure may reduce the incidence Multiple Sclerosis and many types of cancer due to increased levels of Vitamin-D. Construction workers and other people who spend most of the year working outside show decreased rates of these diseases. The key is to avoid burning and to slowly increase exposure. BE smart and don’t overdo it!

So what about us cubical dwellers and book worms? Would a simple multi-vitamin solve all our woes? Windows block out UV rays but what about the benificial elements brought by the sun are those blocked too?

not good news for you. yeah - window glass blocks out the good stuff, and i think there are concerns with tox of vit D taken in excess/supplement. sounds like the best thing find some time during the day -lunch?- for 15 minutes of real sun exposure!
