Historical footage: one of my first olympic lifting sessions...
Do you think that your lifting sucks? Do you feel that nobody does it worse? I can assure you no matter how bad you do, somebody (me) did worse when he started lifting on his own years ago. Not that I do much better today...
What follows is a display of extremely bad technique, constant coping with backpain and high temperatures (~40 degree celsius) and ultra unsophisticated equipment. In a way it's also entertaining to see myself struggling with my then PRs in the snatch (25kg.0) and clean and jerk (30.0kg). Man did I suck... horrible, I mean really horrible... So watch parts of one of my first sessions, Sunday morning, 10. Aug 2003: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZo8YNb4sJk |
I think my first sessions were probably much worse. So bad, in fact, that any and all videos were immediately deleted :D

AHHHHHHH THE DUDITY!!!!
Please tell me that isn't a leapord-print loincloth.... please. Actually, the snatch technique is disappointingly good for an early oly lifting session. |
Peter-
If the people I coach had that technique in the beginning my job would be INFINITELY easier. |
Peter, you give me much hope. I quit following the WOD a month ago and took up Oly lifting for something new. I just completed my first cycle and re-tested my maxes for the next cycle with major disappointment. No new PRs or maxes, in fact I could barely hit what was written as my maxes from before...
Thanks for posting that...there is hope for me. |
