Grappling-specific blogs/feeds
Anyone care to share any good grappling/BJJ specific blogs/rss feeds that are particularly strong?
I haven't come across much worth keeping an eye on.. other than the blog at Grapplearts |

http://andrehbjj.blogspot.com/ These are only two that I check on a regular basis. Andreh doesn't update his with any frequency and the Aesopian one usually has some good content. |
Try these. I find them very useful both as a coach and as a fighter.
http://shogunhq.blogspot.com/ - A purple belt in Denmark who runs the Copenhagen Combat Academy. Regular updates. Good Posts. http://aliveness101.blogspot.com/ - Matt Thornton's blog. Great articles. Infrequent updates. A must for BJJ coaches. http://www.bjj-australia.blogspot.com/ - John Will's personal blog. John is Australia's first BJJ blackbelt, one of the dirty dozen, and a top level coach. And now for a shameless plug... I also run a blog focusing on BJJ and, to a lesser extent, S & C. It's only just starting and I'm still finding my blogger's feet so any feedback would be appreciated. http://elementsfitness.blogspot.com/ |
Thanks guys I like that aesopian one and Ben I'll keep an eye on yours.
Ben- do you happen to know of any tournaments coming up in December or early January in Australia? I'm going to be in Melbourne & Sydney from Dec.13 to Jan 12th. Be awesome to get some training or competition in! |

Greg - Don't know of any comps during that period. Had a bit of a ask around but nothing seems to be on. The competition circuit pretty much shuts down during December & January. I don't get much info on the minor comps in Victoria so you might luck out there.
If you're looking for places to train try 'Ground Zero' and 'Hanger 4' in Melbourne. Both great schools with nice people. If you're out round Geelong definitely drop in on Black Belt Studios; that's John Will's school and he's one of the best coaches you'll ever meet. In Sydney I recomend 'SPMA' if you're central or down south or 'Northside Martial Arts' if you're north or in the Manly area. Again these are both great academies with knowledgeable instructors and a friendly atmosphere. And if you end up dropping through Canberra please feel free to come train with us at Elements Fitness. Hope that helps. |
Thanks Ben thats helpful we'll see where I end up !
