Who do you look upto?

Bruce Lee.

My friend Dona, who at 65 years of age, 5' tall and lightweight, can deadlift 160lbs., and whose zest for life in all its facets just inspires me.

My son Greg, 18 years old, copes with autism and bipolar disorder, and is getting all As in his first year of community college, and made the college bowling team. He goes out each day into a world of challenges we can't even imagine, just like a soldier, and my heart swells with pride.

My son Matt, 17 years old, who is starting back this year on his wrestling team, probably the best wrestler on his team. Last year, he had his first episode of bipolar disorder, too; had to cut his season short by a couple of weeks because he was too ill to finish. Was having a 17-5 season. This year, stable on meds, he's going back into the fray with a great attitude and humility. It takes courage for him to face himself on the mat, and I'm proud of him.

I have heroes on the national scene, too, but these three heroes I see in my daily life, so the inspiration is constant.

You beat me to it Brian. Daily I try and live my life in a way that my children will look up to me as a hero as well. Kind of a daunting tasks it seems sometime. I was sent an email today that said to figure out how many more Saturdays you will have with your children before they turn 18. Once you have the number buy that many marbles and put them in a jar on your dresser. Each Saturday take a marble out and throw it away. That is another day gone you won't ever get back. Freaked me out truthfully. I have 486 more Saturdays with Jr and 590 with Delaney before they turn 18. It makes me emotional thinking about all the great Saturdays I had with my father and how I am living them with my kids now.

Trust me, Derek, your kids appreciate you. When they start getting to know the fathers of their peers they will see how amazing of a Dad that they have. My father ... we always overlook his problems because he does too. But when you take a step back and look at the whole picture it's just so damn amazing. It took going away to college and his 60th birthday to realize the craziness of his predicament. I mean... it just hits me harder when he's not around all the time and I see more fathers who are not disabled. I appreciate every moment with Dad.
